Communication P.O.W.E.R. is both a philosophy and a process. Helping leaders leverage the essential tool of human communication to produce superior results in their work while building stronger, more respectful relationships.

This is done by showing leaders how to communicate to create a positive climate, avoid defensiveness and still directly address behaviors that are hindering performance and therefore results.

What You’ll Learn

  1. Delve deeply into your professional values and mission, in order to understand how what’s most important to you impacts your perspective and what you choose to communicate.
  2. Be introduced to Active Listening – asking questions, using verbal and non-verbal attends, and paraphrasing.
  3. Learn how to communicate in a way that decreases defensiveness and increases shared understanding, by acknowledging the importance of feelings, identify (yours and theirs) and being able to empathize with others.
  4. Gain techniques to help you own your part in a conversation rather than handing off responsibility and control to the other party.
  5. Practice communicating observations as subjective rather than fact. And, focusing on the impact you are having vs your intent.
  6. Discover the power of real dialogue where shared meaning and understanding are exchanged vs discussion which is founded in transferring each individual’s perspective back and fourth.
  7. Become familiar with, and learn to select and use the right tools (agreement, shared objectives, feel-felt-found) to discuss differing views and break through resistance.
  8. Gain exposure to a solid four step approach to handling anger dynamics in conversations. HEAT.
  9. Increase your influence by leveraging non verbal communication and tone.
